Highlights
- It's the Uttarakhand Tourism Board's Trek of the Year 2019.
- Jakhol is a Best Tourism Village 2024.
- A 4 km-wide meadow under a 5,554m peak.
Overview
The trek begins with a 190 km drive from Dehradun north into the Supin valley to Jakhol — the trail head and the 2024 Best Adventure Tourism Village. From Jakhol you walk up the Obra Gad drainage to Obra Thatch (2,500m), then climb to the Bhawa waterfall camp at 3,500m. Day 4 is a short, steep push up to the Dev Kyara meadow at 4,100m, the trip's high point under Ranglana Peak. Day 5 is exploration around the meadow before retracing to Bhawa, and Day 6 is the long return descent — 13 km — back to Jakhol. Day 7 is the drive back to Dehradun.
Who climbs with us
Dev Kyara is one of our quieter Uttarakhand routes — a tented trek up the Supin valley to a high meadow under Ranglana Peak. Recent groups have been a mix of first-time campers stepping into a tented trek for the first time and experienced trekkers looking for an off-the-conveyor-belt route. The 13 km descent on Day 6 asks for some leg conditioning; the rest is forgiving.
